This Ordinary Life

“Brother how far, from the Saviour today

Risking your soul for the things that He gave

Oh if today, God should call you away

What would you give, in exchange for your soul”

greed

1 Peter 5:8

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour;

This world glitters. It dazzles and shines. Beautiful really. And yet, it is nothing more than a deception. It’s no wonder seeing how Satan and his minions are running around like crazy. We have drifted so far from what we were created to become.

Money, sex, drugs and all manner of evil have blinded our eyes. It is so hard to see the real beauty. A new-born baby gently clasping his mother’s finger. A shimmering star as it streaks across the sky. The ocean as it stops at precisely the spot where God has commanded. Oh, how His design is perfect!

I try to see what the Holy Spirit shows me. However, my eyes are often clouded from the things of this world. I consider myself a follower of Jesus. There are moments when this ordinary life becomes extraordinary. Moments when I feel His presence. I hear His voice. I am drenched in peace and joy unspeakable. Moments when I am so blessed I’m brought to tears. I wish everyone could have those moments. Yet, I remain vigilant.

I know the beast that walks this earth. I have given in to the power and seduction of that darkness. I have sinned and disgraced my Heavenly Father. I have made myself unworthy of forgiveness and grace. My soul has been so ugly…

And yet God became flesh and blood. Lived as a man. A righteous man. A perfect man. The Son of Man. He stepped off His throne…do you get it? He left His Kingdom for me!! And not just me…you too. I can’t wrap my mind around it! He crossed worlds to come save us.

There is a verse in the Bible that says:

as it is said, Today, if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts.

Hebrews 4:7

If you hear His voice..call on Him! He will answer in the way you need. He is waiting. You don’t know how close we are to the end. And yet He still holds time back…waiting on that last heart to seek Him. Is it you? Maybe you are afraid of the change. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God! Losing your soul forever is even more scary.

Whisper His name…He will hear it! He will come.

Ready Yourself

heavens

And so the end comes quickly.  Like a thief in the night.  Are you ready?  I mean really ready?  Do you know where you stand?  Where your soul is going?

The things in this life are just that…things!  They rust, mildew, stain, fall apart or simply get tossed to the wayside.  But, there is a place where time does not exist.  We will no longer be on a countdown to our “golden years”.  We won’t have to worry  about senior discounts.  We will have everything we need!!  I’m talking about Heaven!!

That glorious home that awaits us.  That our Jesus, our Savior, went on to prepare for us.  Can you imagine after all Jesus went through on this earth to provide us a bridge to Heaven, He still left and had to go prepare  a place.

I imagine not once did He mutter under His breath about us being ungrateful, stubborn, sinners.   So, are you ready?  Have you come to that place in your Christian walk that you can goodbye to all your worldly gain?  Can you say goodbye to family and friends?  Can you let go of that big house on the hill?

The Spirit bears witness.   You will know if you are ready or not!  And, best of all, He will tell you what you need to do to ready yourself.

If you hear His voice…run to Him!!  He is your Father.

Humbled and Feeling Blessed

I was listening to the radio the other day and heard this song. It stopped me in my tracks. I felt so small and unworthy. I felt  ashamed and guilty. I try…or do I? I believe that I try. I know I will never be  good enough…so I need to accept the fact that Jesus loves me anyway!

If you get a chance go listen to this song.

I pray that it touches you as deeply as it did me.  I am so blessed!!  Praise God!  I am so very blessed!

Jesus….thank you for loving me even though…..

I am the thorn in your crown
But You love me anyway
I am the sweat from Your brow
But You love me anyway
I am the nail in Your wrist
But You love me anyway
I am Judas’ kiss
But You love me anyway
See now I am the man who yelled out from the crowd
For Your blood to be spilled on this earth shaking ground
Yes then I turned away with a smile on my face
With this sin in my heart, tried to bury Your grace
And then alone in the night I still call out for You
So ashamed of my life, my life, my life

But You love me anyway
Oh God, how You love me
Yes You love me anyway
It’s like nothing in life
That I’ve ever known
Yes You love me anyway
Oh Lord, how You love me

A Day In The Life

Good Morning Tuesday!!  Is it a gorgeous day or what?!  I walked out of the house this morning on my way to work.  The sky was just beginning to glow and I could hear the song birds of spring singing.  The air was still a little crisp and I was just blessed beyond measure as I took in all of God‘s creation on my way to the Jeep.

My day is filled with routine work and assignments.   Tuesday is always a “run” day at work and I can’t imagine a more beautiful day to get out of the office!  Only one thing would make it perfect!!  Looking up and seeing my Jesus break through that blue sky, calling out my name and saying “Come up hither”.  *sigh*

I believe we are so close to His return.  I’m not going  to get into everything right now…but, I see prophecy fulfilling on a daily basis!!  The Pope stepping down?!  In my humble opinion we are about to see the False Prophet replace him.  Who is the False Prophet you ask?  Just the man who is going to usher in the Anti-Christ.

Now, I know that there have been tons of false prophets and antichrist before….but, I’m telling ya!!  We are in the final moments!!  Have you heard about the Blood Moons?  I know it sounds cryptic but really it is just referring to the look of the  moon during an eclipse.  These are important things to know.

Genesis 1:14

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
It may sound crazy and I really would love to hear what you think about this if you know what I’m referencing.  Regardless, let’s be ready and watching.  I get so excited thinking about Jesus coming back.  I feel like a little kid on Christmas Eve!!
I know I’ve been rambling and jumping all over the place…I hope you’re still with me!!  I pray that you all have a blessed day.  Keep an eye on the sky…

Words I Live By.

Every day I have an arsenal of verses that I draw strength from. I thought I would share a few with you.

These are just a handfull of my favorites!!  I will never get tired of hearing these words.

If anything, I grow stronger and bolder the more I hear them.

I remember I was driving home through one of the worst thunderstorms I’ve ever been in.  Lightning was flashing on both sides of the road…all around me.  I watched as electrical sparks danced across the road in front of me as a giant power box was taken out.  I was so scared.  My knuckles were white and I was driving a soft top Jeep at the time.  I just kept thinking about how I would die if a tree came down on me.

Then, in the  midst of this incredible storm, I hear this quiet, strong voice whisper in my spirit…Be still and know that I am God!!

My entire being instantly calmed.  My knuckles returned to their normal color.  My breathing became steady and what I thought was a death ride turned into an awesome front seat view of God’s power and Glory.  I was blessed the entire way home!!

Something not many people know about me is that I fight depression on a daily basis.  Some days are better than others.  But, it is always there nagging me…wanting to take my joy and laughter.  Making the sad stories and tragedies of this world seem larger than life.  I know that this earthly body is full of weakness and it stumbles easily.  However, my spirit is kept hopeful and full of joy because I strive to die daily.  In those moments when it seems too heavy I always remember this particular verse.

Another favorite verse that I think of often!!

Now, that is not the complete verse but it certainly gets the point across.  I want God to search out my soul and my thoughts and then I want him to take out all those things that are offensive to Him and fill me with His love and compassion and willingness to forgive.

Like I said, these are just a few of my favorites!  They are always floating close to the top and are easily accessible.  What are some verses that you turn to?

Somewhere in Time

I once heard someone compare God’s view of time to what we see during an ariel view of the Macy’s Day Parade.  They explained that as participants in time, that would be us presently…we know that time exists and that it is in motion.  Moving forward. But, we can’t see the beginning or the end.

However, from God’s perspective he can see everything.  He can see all the twists and turns and stops from beginning to end .  More importantly, he can see all the participants and what they are doing.

Time has always fascinated me!  I’ve always loved shows about time travel.  Good grief!  Throw in a  love story and I’m hooked!  I’m just saying….have you seen Somewhere In Time?  Great movie.

God created time!  He just didn’t throw it out there and say…”let there be time.”  He cares more than that.  He made it eternal.  He divided it into day and night, winter, spring, summer and fall.   He molded it into perfection.

And as I see prophecy coming to fulfillment before my very eyes, everyday on the news, I know that we are living in a perilous time.  In end times.  I’ve heard people say…”Oh they said that when my grandparents were little” or “they are always fighting in the middle east.”    Be still and remember this…

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to usward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentence.

2 Peter 3:9

Isn’t that beautiful?!  The Lord is not slack!!  Time is eternal.  That is true.  Just not our time on earth.  That will end.  He is longsuffering.  Why?  So that when our time on earth is over…we do not die in sin…as sinners.  He is waiting for everyone to repent of their sin and find life eternal and spend forever in the presence of God.

One way or another our time on earth will end.  When it does, we will be judged, rewarded and shown to our eternal home.  Are you ready?

Treasures on Earth

Spending time with my family is what I cherish most about this time of year.  Remove all the presents, the decorations, the food and crazy schedules and it all boils down to time well spent with my loved ones.  I love catching up with all the cousins and aunts and uncles and seeing how the kids are all growing up way too fast.  There is nothing like looking in to the eyes of the youngest one there and seeing your grandma’s eyes looking back at you.  That is amazing!!

My family hails from southeastern Kentucky.  Yep!  We come right out of the holler’.  My mom and her sister and two brothers were raised in severe poverty.  However, you would never know it if you met them.   My uncles worked in the coal mines and I can honestly say that I’m proud to be a coal miner’s daughter!  But I’ll save that for another time…

I get so excited as the evening closes in and the coffee gets poured while we all gather around to hear the stories of old.  Sometimes we pull out old photo albums and that will spark a story which inevitably leads to another story.  I love it!  I would say to anyone reading this…if you are blessed enough to still have your grandparents then run…don’t walk…as fast as you can and ask them to tell you about what they did for fun when they were young.  Ask them about the price of gas or bread…better yet, ask them about their mom and dad.  You have a treasure in front of you just waiting to shine!

Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do.
Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children. ~Alex Haley
All too quickly time will pass you by.  You will blink and twenty years will be gone.  I believe that is why we need to make every moment count.  Take as  many pictures and videos as you can.  Hug your family every day.  Children…respect your parents.  Parents…respect your children.  You won’t get this day back.

Go and make a memory today….
