Who Am I…

Come on in and I’ll tell ya all about myself…

I’m a 40-something- year old Christian who finds myself struggling and fightin’ and climbing uphill along my way to Heaven!  I find that a lot of people that I talk to who have never been “saved” or “born-again” have a hard time accepting the fact that I’m still a sinner and I stumble and slip.  Christians are not perfect!!  But it seems to some people we should be.

I try to think of those moments when I get called on the carpet for my “worldy ways” to use it as a witness and a tool to explain that serving Jesus is not about being perfect or looking good in a suit or dress on Sunday morning!  Serving Jesus is about knowing that we all are flawed and imperfect and fall short…but after we are saved we have an Advocate in Heaven that speaks on our behalf to God Almighty.  Praise God.  A Savior who begs for mercy on our carnal nature and forgiveness of our sins.

I sin every day!!  I try not to.  But I do.

One of my favorite sayings is something I heard one morning on my way to work.  I was listening to 104.9 The  River and they always have an inspirational quote for the day.  This particular one was “God doesn’t call the qualified…He qualifies the called.”  That is how I feel.

I’m not a theologian or seminary scholar.  I’m a feeble servant who is stumbling through this world.  Learning, growing, changing and hoping to share this good news with the world.

Jesus is coming!!  Get ready.

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Joshua 24:15 KJV

      • Yep, still got it! Been reading the entires just haven’t had a free second to respond. Love what you had to say in this one. Paul talked of the ever present war in his flesh. When we go to do good, evil is present. (Romans 7) It’s comforting to know that where sin does abound Grace abounds more. (Romans 5:20) But you’re definitely right about the daily struggle with sin. Romans 6:1-2 reminds me that just because the Grace of God is on my life that doesn’t mean I am permitted to continue on in sin. As I grew in my walk, I realized it was by the mercy of God that I wasn’t consumed because His compassion never fails. (Lamentations 3:22) It hasn’t always been easy but it’s been worth it! God is good, His mercy is everlasting and His truth endures to all generations! 🙂

  2. Your friend gave you great advice, but needed to go one more step. Romans 7 Paul writes about the same struggles as we have, But Romans 8; the whole pivot point of Romans, in 8:1 “There is therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, but according to the Spirit.” All of chapter 8 is about how to live in that Grace. I hope my words are not found to cross with you for I struggle the same as you, please take some time and study out Romans. your brother or as some say the bother in Christ Jesus, James
