God is a Spirit.

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”  John 4:24

I look out my window and see the winds picking up.  No doubt a result of Hurricane Sandy.  The leaves are being plucked from their limbs and sent along their way.  Destination unknown.  I know that the beauty of fall is quickly being blown out of sight and will be replaced with bare limbs, brown grass, and my personal favorite, birds of winter.

I’m reminded of one of my favorite Bible versus.  It is a verse that I want to build this blog upon.

“behold, I say unto you,  Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.”  John 4:35

What does that mean you ask?  Well, it’s pretty exciting.  This was Jesus talking to his disciples, explaining to them that there were hearts and souls that were ripe and ready to be harvested for the kingdom of Heaven.  It’s all about saving souls.

I know some of you may laugh and scoff and this might be the last time you come to this blog.  I hope not.  But I’m here to tell you that this world is going to pass away.  Your soul will never die!!  It will live forever.  That in itself is hard to grasp.  But it is true.  The scary part is that it only has two resting places for eternity.  Heaven or Hell.  Do you know which way you are going?

I used to think that I had to ‘get ready’ to be saved.  I had to get things in order.  Not so!!  All you have to do is ask and Jesus is right there waiting to meet you where you are.  Isn’t that amazing?! He takes you ‘as-is’.  But what is even more amazing…are you ready….once you surrender your life to him, he takes every bad thing you have ever done, uttered, thought of and throws it into a sea of forgetfulness!!!!  HE FORGETS YOUR SIN!!!!!!!  That’s what is meant by being ‘born again’.

You are a new creature in Christ!  He even gives you a new name that he writes down in Heaven.  I know I’m getting a little off topic…but I get so excited!  Now, don’t get me wrong.  Christians still sin.  Everyday in fact.  But as a Christian, we have forgiveness.  That doesn’t mean you can willingly sin and then ask for forgiveness…..I’ll save that for another post!!  For now, lets get back to the Harvest!!

You know I had read that verse many times and I knew what it meant.  However, it didn’t sink in until just a few months ago.  I might sow.
You might reap.  What exactly does that mean?  Have you heard someone say that after trying to ‘talk some sense in to someone’ after all is said and done they hope at the very least to have ‘planted a seed’.  Well, that’s what this is.

Planting seeds is talking about Jesus and salvation.  It’s sharing your experience and trying to put into words all the unspeakable joys that have filled your life since surrendering to Jesus.  When you do that you are planting seeds!!  Seeds of faith.   Meaning, you have Faith in God that all that you say and do will have an impact on someone.

When you reap, you are gleaning the seeds that were planted before you came along.  The seed has grown, which is the word of God.  That person may have begun a spiritual journey and the Lord has worked on their heart until it is so tender and broken that ONLY Jesus can repair it.  That is where the harvest begins.  Some people sow…others will reap.  So you might be in the right spot at the right time to reap what someone else has sown.  It doesn’t matter if you reap or sow…

“And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal:  that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice  together.”  John 4:36

How amazing is that?!  So, if you are reaping, sowing or maybe just being plucked from the harvest, I’m glad you are here.  Until next time…

God bless.
